Joshua Tetuan
Captain Joshua Tetuan’s passion for the ocean began long before Black Wake Sportfishing was ever launched. Raised with a deep respect for the water and the traditions of New England fishing, Joshua has spent countless hours learning the rhythms of the sea and the thrill of the chase that keeps anglers coming back for more.
For Joshua, fishing is more than just a sport—it’s a way to connect people with the ocean and with each other. Whether guiding seasoned anglers to their next trophy catch or helping someone reel in their very first fish, he believes every trip should be an unforgettable experience.
Before pursuing his vision with Black Wake Sportfishing, Joshua spent over six years as an instructor with the North Atlantic States Carpenter Training Fund, mentoring and educating apprentices in the skilled trades. Today, when he's not running charters, the longtime carpenter and former training-fund instructor works as Safety & Field Director at Dynamic Interiors in Fall River.
Joshua carries that same passion for mentorship onto the water. He enjoys teaching guests about local fisheries, responsible angling practices, and the importance of protecting the marine environment for future generations.
Beyond the thrill of fishing, Joshua believes in giving back to the community and sharing the traditions of the sea with others. Through Black Wake Sportfishing, his goal is simple: create memorable experiences, educate new anglers, and inspire a lifelong respect for the ocean.
Founder & Captain
Sally Alves
Every great trip starts long before the boat leaves the dock — and that's where Sally comes in. As the other half of Black Wake Sportfishing, she is the voice behind the bookings, the messages, and the posts: customer relations, social media and marketing, and the accounting & bookkeeping that keep the business running.
Sally's connection to the water runs through her work as well. A Rhode Island College graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, she is a Senior Accountant with TotalBoat and Jamestown Distributors, spending her days in the marine industry she and Joshua live on the weekends. She is also the owner of Sigma Alpha Realty LLC, her own real estate company — a business owner long before Black Wake ever launched.
That experience shows up in every trip. Sally believes a charter should be effortless from the first message to the moment you step off the boat, and she brings the same precision to Black Wake's books and bookings that she brings to her accounting career.
On the water, she's earning her stripes as First Mate (in training) — learning the ropes, helping guests get settled, and loving every minute of it.
Through Black Wake Sportfishing, her goal is simple: take care of everything behind the scenes, so all you have to do is fish.
